FULL BIOGRAPHY

 

The italian mezzosoprano Cristina Sogmaister, started her studies with M° P. Ferraris and at the moment she prepares her repertoire with M° G. Canetti and A. Sasso.

After winning the Spoleto’s International Competition in 1994, she has improved her singing with Magda Olivero at The Accademy of Teatro alla Scala in Milan ( the final concert was broadcasted by TELE + 3 ) and  M° Alberto Zedda at Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro.

In 1995 she wan the “Progetto Giovani” competition made by Puccini’s Festival  in order to sing the role of Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica with supervision of Antonietta Stella. After that she returned there for to sing Musico in Manon Lescaut ( with M° A. Campori).

In 1996 she sang at the “Amici del Loggione” of Teatro alla Scala  Orfeo ed Euridice (Orfeo) in concert version and she sang the same role on stage in the Theatres of Pisa, Mantova and Ravenna.

In the same year she appeared at the opening season in Teatro alla Scala in Milan as “ La Najade “ and “Armide”’s cover in Armide by C.W.Gluck conducted by R. Muti. 

After that, she appeared in the most importants Theatres in Italy and Europe:

She returned at La Scala in Milan for Le nozze di Figaro with R. Muti and for a concert of young artists “Cantoforum”.

She made her Rossini’s first important debut in Parma, at the TeatroRegio , singing Isabella in Italiana in Algeri alongside M. Pertusi, W. Matteuzzi and with M° D. Callegari.

She sang the same role also in the Theatres of Modena, Ferrara.

She sang Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova, Olbe Abao in Bilbao ( alongside C. Alvarez and J.D. Florez), Bellinzona’s Festival ( M° C. Desderi conductor and D. Abbado director), Teatro Comunale in Cagliari (M° C. Rovaris conductor, S. Vizioli director, alongside R. Frontali, A. Siragusa, E. Dara), Teatro Regio in Parma, Teatro S. Carlo in Napoli (M° R. Palumbo), Teatro Comunale in Belluno and Silandro (BZ). 

She sang the role of Angelina in La Cenerentola by Rossini at the Teatro Nuovo in Udine with M° C. Desderi, and in the Theatres  of  Bolzano, Trento, Rovigo and in OperBonn. 

She sang her first Adalgisa in Norma by Bellini at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona and then in the Theatres of Bergamo, Brescia, Pavia and also at the TeatroRegio in Parma with original instruments (F. Biondi and Europa Galante orchestra).  

She returned at theTeatroComunale in Cagliari for to sing Zerlina in Don Giovanni conducted by G. Korsten and directed by G. Strehler alongside M. Pertusi and E. Mei and in the Teatro Testoni in Lugo di Romagna she played the role of Isabella in rare opera L’Italiana in Algeri by L. Mosca.

At the Teatro Regio in Torino she appeared as Teresa in La Sonnambula by Bellini ( alongside E. Mei , M. Pertusi and J. D. Florez), as Isolier in Le Compte Ory by Rossini( B. Campanella conductor, alongside R. Blake, M. Pertusi, A. Corbelli), as Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda by Donizetti ( E. Pido’ conductor) , as Adalgisa in Norma by Bellini( B. Campanella conductor, B. Fassini director), as Fidalma in Matrimonio segreto by Cimarosa(alongside E. Dara), as Arsace in Semiramide by Rossini ( R. Frizza conductor).

At the Teatro Massimo in Palermo she appeared as Siebel in Faust by Gounod alongside L. Serra and she sang Leonora in Il Trionfo dell’ Onore (Abbiati’s price) and Arsace in La Principessa fedele both by A. Scarlatti and conducted M° F. Biondi and Europa Galante orchestra. 

She appeared at Montreux’s Festival for to sing Rossini’s Tancredi and Semiramide duets alongside Luba Orgonasova and conducted by M. Minkovski and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

At the Teatro Malibran in Venezia she sang Lucilla in La Scala di seta by Rossini, alongside R. Blake and conducted by R. R. Brignoli.

She sang Kaled in Le Roi de Lahore by Massenet at Teatro La Fenice in Venezia conducted by M. Viotti and recorded by Dynamic. 

She made her debut at Opernhaus in Zurigo singing Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda by Donizetti (M. Viotti conductor).  

She sang again Arsace in Semiramide by Rossini at the Theatres of Pisa, Livorno, Rovigo, Trento.

In the famous staging of G. Strehler’s Cosi’ fan tutte, she appeared as Dorabella in Atene, Pechino’s Festival and San Pietroburgo.

In San Paolo Brazil she made Bellini’s Capuleti e Montecchi debut as Romeo, she sang La principessa di Bouillon in Adriana Lecouvreur by Cilea at the Theatre of Mantova, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly by Puccini in Palma de Mallorca, Frugola in Tabarro by Puccini (alongside Jean Philippe Lafont) and  Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro (conducted by LüJia) both performed at the International Festival Macao. 

In 2010 she sang the n. 1 Simphony by A. Scrjabin in Florence (Teatro del Maggio Musicale fiorentino ) with M. Pletnev conductor, the Stabat Mater by A.Dvorak with the Simphony Cairo Orchestra, il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rosina) and Rigoletto (Maddalena)for I.K.O in Tuscany' s and Roma's tour.

In  2011/2012 season she made a new debut in Gianni Schicchi (Zita) and Suor Angelica (Suor Zelatrice) both by G. Puccini in Messina Teatro Vittorio Emanuele and she returned there for to play the role of Suzy in La Rondine by Puccini; she sang again Rosina of Barbiere di Siviglia at Bellinzona Festival and Maddalena in Rigoletto by Verdi in Tuscany tour, Komornà (The Makropulos Case) in Florence (Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino) under the baton of Zubin Mehta and directed by William Friedkin, La Gran Sacerdotessa in Aida with M°. Armiliato at Arena di Verona , Gloria by Vivaldi and Petite Messe Solennelle with Orchestra Mitteleuropea of Udine, recitals in Bruxelles for the Organization of Arena di Verona. 

In 2013,  she played another debut as Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart in the Theatres of Belluno and Chiavari , she teached to the young singers at the “Cantiere lirico” in Goldoni Theatre in Livorno for the realization of “Così fan tutte” and performed again the Simphony n. 9 at the Portogruaro International Festival (VE).

From 2014 to 2017 , she sang in the Theatres of Rovigo and Venice's La Fenice for another debut as Orsola in “Il Campiello” by E. W. Ferrari alongside Max Renè Cosotti , with P. Trevisi director and the live recording by Bongiovanni, she came back to the Maggio musicale fiorentino to sing Pulcinella by Stravinski under the baton of A. Manacorda,  she played baroque concerts in Padua and  Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rosina)  in Rovereto (M. Lorenzo Tazzieri conductor),  she performed the IX Simphony in Tolmezzo for Carniarmonie festival , recitals and baroque concerts with Orchestra Saccisica (M. Nicola Simoni) and Mozart’s Requiem in Sanremo (M. De Lorenzo). 
In 2018/2019 season she performed the role of  Zia Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Fenena in Nabucco at Saint Vincent’s Festival (AO); she sang Beethoven IX Simphony in Sanremo and Nice, Stabat Mater by Rossini in Bergamo. 

Furthermore, she made a new role debut  as Azucena in Trovatore by G. Verdi at Zandonai’s Theatre in Rovereto (TN) conducted by L. Tazzieri, and performed again Rosina in Chengdu (Cina) and  various gala recitals in Italy.

In the concert she sang Requiem by Verdi conducted by A. Francis and Verdi’s Orchestra, Stabat Mater by Rossini with M° R. Gandolfi, Seconda Sinfonia by Mahler with M° I. Karabtchevsky, Nisi Dominus by Vivaldi, Messiah by Haendel, Salve Regina by Pergolesi, Christmas Oratorio by J.S.Bach, Gloria by F. Vallotti and Litanie Laureane by Mozart  with Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, the project in music and prose “Le Stanze di WolfangAmade’” at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Firenze.

With Udine’s Orchestra Filarmonica she recorded Requiem by Mozart (Real Sound recording), sang the Messa in Do minore K427 by Mozart and Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, with M° Fabio Biondi and his orchestra Europa Galante various songs by Vivaldi and Salve Regina by Pergolesi in Spain ( S. Ander Festival, San Sebastian) and in Urbino Baroque Festival.

With Accademia Santa Cecilia in Roma she sang Magnificat by J.S.Bach (M° E. Mazzola), Gloria by Vivaldi (M° P. Olmi), Te Deum by Charpentier (M° M.W.Chung recorded Deutsche Grammophon and broadcasted  by Italian television for the restored San Pietro’s Church) the Nona Sinfonia by Beethoven (M° M.W.Chung, with concerts in Torino Lingotto, S. Ander Festival, various cities in Italy) and with Parma Opera Ensemble she sang Giovanna d’Arco by Rossini.
